Upon
arrival, you will see a small picket fence across the
front lawn with “Burma Shave” style signs giving welcome.
Then you will cruise along the painted sidewalk Route
66 Cottage Highway that leads up onto the porch and into
the cottage and winds from stop to stop within.
Your first stop on the Route
66 Cottage Highway will be the drive-in theater living
area featuring vintage vehicle seating complete with drive-in
speakers and your personal big screen for viewing movies.
There will also be a Shoe Tree where you can add a paper
“Shoe” with your comments.
The next stop would be your
motel room featuring a luxury queen size bed appointed
with Route 66 memorabilia including a faux window and
mural looking out on a scene featuring popular landmarks
seen while cruising on Route 66.
From there, you would travel the Route
66 Cottage Highway to the “Gas Station Restroom”. The
restroom key on a large wooden block labeled “Restroom”
will be hanging just outside the door for you (but we
won’t really make it necessary to use it – it will be
just for show – after all, when you gotta’ go, you gotta’
go) And the last stop, of course, would be Sondra's Diner,
so named after Patrick's beloved mother who dearly loved
Route 66 during her lifetime. It will have "neon
lights" (rope Christmas lights) surrounding the exterior
and a corner booth for breakfast dining inside. Just through
the back of Sondra's Diner will be a convenience kitchen
with a microwave, coffee pot, and refrigerator and laundry
room.
We are members of the Professional Association
of Innkeepers International (PAII) and the Oklahoma Bed
and Breakfast Association (OKBBA). In addition to inspections
by the Fire Marshall and City Code Enforcer to insure
safety for our guests, we will be inspected by the OKBBA
to insure optimal service to our guests.
When you “Get Your Kicks on Route
66”, we hope you’ll “check in” to our Route 66 Cottage.
When will Route 66 Cottage open? Current
plans are to open the Route 66 Cottage in 2006. There
will be a private pre-opening Open House for the neighbors
of the neighborhood and a public Grand Opening shortly
thereafter welcoming you to be the first to join us for
refreshments and a tour of the Route 66 Cottage. Click
here to track our progress.
